Coral Island to help rebuild Los Santos
Governor Carrow and President Lucy Alvarez announced in Paleto Bay that Coral Island crews, machinery and cargo ships will help rebuild Los Santos.
Governor Diane Carrow and President Lucy Alvarez of Coral Island faced the press together outside the State offices on Paleto Boulevard on Thursday 1 October, after four days of talks.
"Los Santos has had a very hard week," the Governor said. "Today I want to talk about how we get it back." She thanked the emergency crews and the people of Paleto Bay "for opening their doors to a whole city".
What was agreed
- Coral Island engineers will start on the freeway and the port, "because nothing else can move until those are open".
- The first cargo ships from Puerto Coral were due the following week, carrying stone, steel and fuel.
- Puerto Coral's deep-water harbour is open to San Andreas supply ships.
- The State recognises Coral Island's waters, including Antigua.
How long it will take
President Alvarez said rebuilding Los Santos properly would take at least six months, "and more honestly, closer to a year". Asked whether she agreed, the Governor said: "I would rather tell you it will take a year and finish early than promise you a month and let you down."
The State's offices will stay in Paleto Bay "until Los Santos is safe, and not a day less".
The full terms will be published in the Gazette once both governments have signed. Travel policy has not changed: do not travel to Coral Island without a valid permit and visa. Progress is published on Rebuilding Los Santos.
